Each class is unique to the teacher that leads the class but the structure of all the classes reflects the description.
Flow Yoga: combines postures (asanas) through breath for a transformative and balancing practice. Classes build endurance, strength, assist in flexibility and promote balance and relaxation. Each class is creatively sequenced and has unique focus and pace adapted to participant from a gentle, invigorating to moderate flow. Typical class starts with centering, moves through sun salutations, standing poses, sited poses, balancing, back bands and relaxation. All levels welcome in all classes.
Core Flow Yoga: this class combines flowing yoga with intentional sequencing that focuses on the core and core strenghtening poses. We draw from Pilates, Yoga and Therapeutic training in this class to offer a complete experience.
Flow/Surrender Yoga: this class combines a practice of a flow yoga (guided by the breath) with a practice of a more still type of yoga (aka yin or restorative). Each class will vary but there will be always a flow supported by a surrender in a longer holding postures. A typical class will start with pranayama (breath work)/centering, warm up, standing poses including various sun or moon salutation sequences, sited postures, twists, forward and back bands, core work and a shavasana.
Restorative Yoga: provides the opportunity to relax and renew the body into supported, restful postures allowing for a complete surrender. Practicing restorative yoga helps us learn to relax and rest deeply and completely. A great class to nurture mind, body and soul.
Yin Yoga: this class focuses on stretching the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and the joints of the body (generally hips, lower back and spine) and provided opportunity to pracice rest and presence with the breath and each pose while holding it for an extended period of time. This style of yoga complements Vinyasa & Hatha classes which is are dynamic and active (yang) style of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of your muscles.
Yin Flow Yoga:this class combines yin yoga (slow/held poses practice) with yang (more dynamic, flow, moving practice). Each class is creatively sequenced and has unique focus and pace adapted to participant from a gentle, invigorating to moderate flow and incorporates yin poses that balance well the active part of the class. Typical class starts with centering, moves through sun salutations, standing poses, sited poses, balancing, back bands and relaxation. All levels welcome in all classes.
Gentle Hatha Yoga: this class is suitable for everyone but also welcoming to students with injuries, limitation and anyone who needs to alter their practice. This class offers modifications to accomodate everyone. Gentle meditation might be introduced.
Hatha Yoga: this class varies is structure based on the teacher is inspired by many yoga traditions including Iyengar, Kripalu, Vinyasa and other styles. This class mixes some flow and some stationary poses, paying special attention to alignment.
Let Your Yoga Dance: this is a grooving celebration that will have you loving your body and loving your life! Weaving simple, guided movement sequences and free exploration, Let Your Dance Yoga reconnects you with your innate state of joyous well-being. Your mind becomes clear, free, and positive, and your body feels supple, energized, and powerful. Practiced to inspiring world music, your dance is an empowering journey to self-acceptance and transformation.We will move through deep, personal exploration into a loving, intimate relationship with body, mind, and source energy. This exhilarating union of dance, visualization, and ritual calls us to get funky and divine! Let Your Dance Yoga does not require any previous movement or dance experience or yoga practice experience. Travel this sacred and funky journey, feel bliss, and express ourselves as soul. Teens are welcomed to join the class as well.
Mat Pilates for Women: this class focuses on holistic body fitness, elongated supple muscles, and balance between body and mind. The emphasis is well rounded complete fitness-building core strenght and increasing flexibility. Flow's Pilates mat classes focus on integrating the entire body using your own body weight, gravitiy and props promoting ease and effeciency of movement through focused and controlled exercises developed by Joseph Pilates. Pilates greatly complements yoga practice.
Teen Yoga Girls Connection: this class is specifically designed for teens mixing allowing for opportunity to work on strength and flexibility, while relieving the stress of daily life. Our classes allow teenagers an opportunity to focus on themselves and take a break from busy lifes . Each class offers active asana (poses), balance work, breath work (pranayama) and relaxation. All teens welcome.
Family Story Play Yoga: this class is designed for kids of all with parents/caregivers age 2+.We will be introducing lessons from yoga teachings through simple movement and story. Join us, for fun and enriching class.
Yoga Flow for Caregivers/ Play: this is an all level adult (caregivers) yoga class that everyone can enjoy. This unique class is geared toward adults and welcomes children of ALL ages into the room during practice to either sleep, play, watch or participate along the side. Older children are also invited to entertain themselves without supervision in the childcare room which is located just around the corner. Join us for this family bonding practice for the whole family as you recharge.
Musical Yoga Play: family style yoga with a musical twist. We'll breathe, move, add yoga poses and sing along to well known songs as well as new ones. The final 15 min of class will be spent playing and connecting with others in the kids discovery room. All ages welcome.
Pre-natal Yoga: designed for expectant mothers during their pregnancy journey. We will use mind/body awareness to allow moms to connect with their body and growing baby. Our class is carefully sequenced around all trimesters of pregnancy and accommodates all stages of pregnancies and experiences of yoga. Our warm and supportive classes also provide space for you to connect with other moms. Prenatal yoga can help alleviate many of the discomforts of pregnancy such as nausea, constipation, swelling, varicose veins, back pain, and sciatica while increasing overall comfort and sense of relaxation.
Parent/baby Yoga: Come meet other parents with babies and enhance your health and mood at the same time! Some gentle yoga can boost your energy and your spirits. Through slow-flowing yoga, we stretch and strengthen the entire body. Babies are engaged with touch, kisses, massage, visual stimuli, and entranced with the singing and movement we do with them! Come to this class when you feel ready (most come 3-6 weeks postpartum).Kids yoga Discovery Room might be available for older siblings during this class per reservation.
Preschool Kids Yoga age 3-5/6: this is a fun and playful class for preschoolers introducing yoga poses, breath and relaxation through play, games, team work, imaginary, art and music. Parents are encouraged to take time for themselves while kids participate in the class.
Big Yogi Family ages 5/6+: this class includes postures &games for the entire family, including age- and intensity level-appropriate variations to accommodate all of the students in the class and make sure that everyone has fun. This class encourages physical and emotional bonding. All yogis age 2+ and up welcome in this class. Offered once a month on SAT as a fundraiser or a special event (Equnox, Mother/Father Day and other). Looks also for Let Your Yoga Dance as a Family or bigger kids class.
Little Yogi Family ages 2-5: with parent/ caregiver: in this class we will learn breath work, asanas and relaxation through songs, games and imaginative play. The class will transition to some playtime in the children's discovery room to allow for free movement and discussion.
Warrior Girls (Yoga& Art) ages 7-12: in this class will come together into an equal, positive, non-judgmental zone once a week to explore and share their thoughts, emotions, personalities, similarities and differences and celebrate them! This class will focus on exploring and expanding friendships, self esteem, and discovering the warrior within. We will experiment with a variety of poses, from simple to challenging, and work together in partner and group poses. Each class will consist of yoga asanas as well as a complementary activity such as group games, poetry, and art.
Super Kids Yoga 6-9 (both girls and boys): students will learn basic yoga poses while maintain aiming a playful, fun class experience through games, props and music. Classes focus on building self-confidence, strength and concentration. Children are encouraged to express themselves while learning the basic yoga principles of respect to self and others.
Super Kids 4-7 (for boys): Lots of gross motor movement, vocalization, fantasy and role play. We will also focus on tools for self-regulation and mindfulness, to help little bodies and minds cool down when needed. Not currently on the schedule but if we gain interest in this class we will bring the class back.
Let your Yoga Dance ages 6+ with parent/caregiver: Let Your Yoga Dance is a wonderfully fun combination of yoga and dance; strengthening and letting loose; energizing and relaxation! The workout includes yoga poses and yogic philosophies… but poses are not held or done on a mat, they are danced through to an array of music (pop, oldies, world beat… ) and coupled with both choreographed and free form imaginative movement designed to be enjoyable and doable for all ages, fitness levels and bodies.The class includes warming up, dancing our hearts out, and cooling down, finishing with a meditation… moving through the seven energy centers of the body, or chakras as we go… a fun workout for your body, mind, and spirit!
Private or Semi-Private Yoga, Pilates, Reiki, Personal Training, Thai Yoga Bodywork: For individuals or pairs/small groups (friends, partners, etc.) who would like individual instruction and be guided through yoga in a more intimate setting. Private Yoga instruction provides the opportunity for attention to be solely devoted to your body and practice. The experience is driven by your yoga practice, body, questions, needs and goals. The sessions are completely individualized to meet your needs.
